AllStarLink is the VoIP backbone that bridges amateur radio nodes across the internet. XLX159 has an AllStar node bolted on for cross-mode routing, and several other AllStar nodes live on this tailnet.
What is AllStar?
AllStarLink is an open-source VoIP system built on Asterisk, designed specifically for amateur radio. Each node can connect to others, creating a global network of linked repeaters and hotspots.

Cross-mode routing
XLX159's AllStar node is the bridge that makes cross-mode QSOs work. When someone transmits on D-Star module A and someone else is listening on YSF module B, the audio is mixed through the AllStar node and re-transmitted on the target protocol.
Setup a new AllStar node
For new operators
AllStar node setup is non-trivial. The standard path is:
- Register at https://www.allstarlink.org/ (requires valid amateur callsign + email)
- Set up a node (Raspberry Pi + simpleusb/uri/iax2 hardware recommended)
- Configure your node to point at
xlx159.duckdns.orgfor cross-mode bridging - Add your node info here so other operators can find you
